Mount Trashmore Summer Carnival

Friday, May 30 – Tuesday, June 24

This traditional summer carnival has it all: food, rides, and games for all ages. Admission and parking are free, and wristbands for unlimited ride admission range from $12 to $20, depending on the day. Nothing says summer quite like throwing a dart at a bunch of balloons with attempting to eat funnel cake without covering yourself in powdered sugar. If that sounds like your kind of party, bring the whole family!

Oceana Naval Air Station Tours

Weekdays except July 4 and September 2

This military airport is home to an impressive collection of nearly 300 fighter jets. Guests can get up close to some amazing aircraft that can’t be seen elsewhere. Guided tours of the facility are approximately two-and-a-half hours long from start to finish. Please note that proper photo identification is required to enter for those over the age of 16. Backpacks are not allowed in the building.

Friday Night Hoedown

Fridays from 7:00pm – 10:00pm until October 31

This fun event at the Virginia Beach Farmers’ Market is great for the whole family! Bring a blanket and chairs, strap on your dancing shoes, and enjoy some good live country and bluegrass music! For a complete schedule of the summer Hoedowns, be sure to check out their calendar.

Ocean Breeze Waterpark

Opens at 10:00am daily until September 1

Located just 2 miles from Virginia Beach’s oceanfront, this park features more than 16 waterslides, a wave pool, and a dedicated children’s area. It’s the only waterpark in Virginia Beach, so those looking for a little summer thrill should check it out! Admission is $25 for kids under 10 and $33 for adults. Both children under two years and parking are free.

Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center

Open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm

With over 800 thousand gallons of sea life, this aquarium is considered one of the best in the country. The two main areas, the Marsh Pavilion and the Bay & Ocean Pavilion, are home to more than 12,000 animals! The aquarium also has exhibits for birds such as the majestic great horned owl and lizards, including a komodo dragon! Admission is $15 for children under 11 and $22 for adults.

Beaches

And of course, you can’t visit Virginia Beach without checking out the many beaches that give the town its name! Lifeguards are on duty through mid-September.
